Over 40% of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions, the main greenhouse gas which causes climate change, actually come from the things we do every day.

Things like leaving lights on unnecessarily or overfilling the kettle all waste energy and result in needless carbon dioxide emissions. This section looks at the impact we are having on climate change and what's being done to help fight it.

What's being done to help prevent climate change?

The UK has committed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 20 per cent by 2020 and seeks a 60% reduction in emissions by 2050 . There are a number of initiatives that have been set up to help meet this reduction, these include the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT), the Climate Change Levy and the Climate Change Bill amongst others.
