Newbuild Outreach

The Newbuild Outreach programme has been established to provide support services to individual developers and/or house builders committed to building to higher energy performance standards. In order to understand what industry required from such a programme, interviews were held with a wide range of representatives and the programme was designed around that feedback.

Key aims of the programme:

To engage with new build house builders and developers throughout the UK who are committed to building homes to high energy performance standards

To test a number of approaches to achieving higher energy performance standards across a range of house types and industry sectors

To lead a sector-wide monitoring and evaluation programme of the performance and feasibility of low carbon homes

To explore consumer issues and ways of marketing low carbon homes

To provide practical lessons learned from supporting delivery of higher performing new homes that will feed into ongoing policy developments and building regulation reviews

To show that higher levels of energy efficiency can be achieved at little extra technical cost.

The Energy Saving Trust has published guidance to meet the energy efficiency requirements of levels 3, 4, 5&6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. These can be viewed by clicking here.
