One of the commitments that local authorities in Scotland have made in signing
Scotland's Climate Change Declaration is that they will produce an action plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, partly through improved staff awareness.
The Energy Saving Trust has created an energy awareness training resource for local authorities that aims to change attitudes and behaviour towards energy use. It does not stop simply at awareness raising, but uses a wide variety of training methods to help local authorities use their influence to reduce energy use, both within their own building and the wider community.
The resource is free to all councils in Scotland and is designed so that the training programme can be run in-house without the need for external support. There is a pre-training guide containing training checklists, a trouble-shooting guide and potential training evaluation
tools.
The Energy Saving Scotland advice centres have already begun to work with some local authorities to help them achieve staff awareness through this resource. If you would like to receive further information and advice about implementing the resource, please contact your local advice centre on 0800 512 012.
