The community energy programme has broken new ground to make community heating more efficient by supporting a large number of small, innovative projects, using renewable fuels such as biomass and lead the way for developing even more innovative solutions to cutting carbon emissions in the future.
The programme will close as planned on 31 March 2007 and we are working with project managers on current schemes to ensure they are working to these deadlines. The deadline for submission of final grant claims remains 28 February 2007. The Energy Saving Trust will be unable to make any grant payments against invoices received after this date. If you have any queries on the existing programme please contact your handholder or the Community Energy helpline on 0870 850 6085.
In December 2004, Defra announced an extra £10m to extend the Community Energy programme. Following a wide ranging appraisal of existing climate change policies published today in the Climate Change Programme Review, Defra have taken the decision not to continue with this extension. If you have any queries on this please contact Defra on 08459 335577.
