Helpful tools

The Energy Saving Trust has developed a number of interactive and helpful tools to help you implement sustainable energy measures:

  • The house the Energy Saving Trust built - see at a glance what the components of an energy efficient house look like. Whether it's a new build or refurbishment project, our best practice standards provide the solutions to level three in energy efficiency of the Code for Sustainable Homes
  • Local authority energy day toolkit - everything you need to run an energy day and work towards influencing key decision makers to put energy higher on their agendas.
  • Whole house boiler sizing wizard - use this sizing wizard to get the replacement boiler that runs most efficiently, has lower running costs and produces lower carbon emissions. This method should be used for gas, oil and LPG boilers up to 25Kw.
  • Hard to treat homes - this information will help you to prioritise the range of refurbishment options available and develop an effective plan.
  • Scottish fuel poverty indicator - this tool has been developed to assist Scottish local authorities in the preparation of their fuel poverty strategies.
  • Delivering on-site sustainable energy in Scotland: Planner support pack - this pack, designed specifically for Scottish planners, provides detailed guidance on developing policies for on-site sustainable energy.
  • Energy strategy matrix - this step by step tool has been developed to help housing asscociations develop or review their energy strategies. Four supporting case studies show how four housing associations approached their strategies.

If you have any suggestions for tools which will help you incorporate energy efficiency in your projects please email us.
