Castle Morpeth resident recommends cavity wall insulation

Darras Hall resident, Ken Templeton has been enjoying the benefits of cavity wall insulation for many years.

Retired from the Electricity Board, Ken insulated his walls on learning the difference it makes - not only by helping him use less energy but also on reducing his impact on the environment.

Ken explains: 'On hearing that cavity wall insulation materials had improved and how easy it was to install, we decided to have the work done and noticed a difference straight away.'

'It resulted in our home being a more comfortable place to live, with less need to turn the heating on. In fact, we were so impressed, we've recommended it to family and friends.'

Solar Solution for Corbridge Couple

The North East is becoming more energy conscious - with a survey

showing 74 per cent of people in the region like the idea of generating

their own power.

Research by the Energy Saving Trust also showed that 66 per cent of people are aware of the link between their home energy use and climate change,

encouraging more people to choose renewable energy options.

Leading by example are retired couple Colin and Rosemary Baker, of Corbridge, who recently decided to install solar PV panels on the roof of their bungalow as well as cavity wall insulation.

Mr Baker, formerly chief engineer at Lonrho Textiles in Cramlington, said: "We have always been interested in renewable energy. But since moving here gas prices have gone up by about 30 per cent. Not only are we using less energy from our suppliers, we?re also reducing our impact on the environment."
